6gb mod for fallout New Vegas, when you complete the New California story it lets you play your character into New Vegas which is pretty cool but doesn't make sense for the story.
Speaking of the story, New California has a decent one and I enjoyed the vault section and how it ties all the games together (the mod takes place between the events of fallout 2 and New Vegas right before the Enclave goes East to Raven Rock)
The story gets pretty linear at some points, especially when you leave the vault. As far as I can tell the outcome of the game is based on which direction of the fork in the road you take when leaving the vault.
There is a lot of lore in the vault, you can easily spend hours in there which is cool.
The voice acting is top notch, graphics are good (it uses a texture pack) lots of content.
Also there's a fucking raider death metal radio station with a dope ass DJ that talks about evil and the apocalypse. It's so heavy it drowns out all the dialogue.
Now the negatives.
The linear story really sucks. I was hoping I could rush through the vault and explore, do my own thing but I got roped into all kinds of shit and I got lost in the vault trying to figure out what the hell I was supposed to do.
It wouldn't be so bad if the game wasn't BUGGY AS ALL HELL. seriously I broke the game multiple times by accident and all kinds of shit went wrong for me. Maybe I'm just retarded.
The very first 10 seconds I managed to accidentally steal a pencil before I could even do the intro so the dude started shooting me and I just had to let him kill me and start again.
Later on in the story you get pushed down a giant pit which is supposed to be this cool sequence of you falling to the bottom but I kept getting pushed too far and dying instantly or I would glitch out and they would shoot me to death and I have to watch a 5 minute unskipable cutscene.
There was also a mission where I was supposed to look for the previous occupants of a house and check the backyard. Ran around for minutes and looked all over, didn't find shit and failed the mission.
Whatever you do DON'T GO NORTH WHEN YOU LEAVE THE VAULT. you get kidnapped and lose all your stuff and get forced into a linear mission with no supplies where they say "YOU'RE A RAIDER NOW, USE YOUR FISTS PUSSY" against LITERALLY dozens of NCR troops. Or you piss off one of the two main factions of the game.
The missions for the Raiders suck ass and you don't get any gear. You have to fight a fucking behemoth with your bare hands and a Nightkin in permanent stealth with a trail carbine that can two shot you.
It's a fun mod but it's buggy as fuck and pisses me off. Needs another 7 years IMHO
