UK Media Crackdown

Earlier today there were rumours of Assange being extradited; locals saw large numbers of police and 'other's outside the Ecuadorian embassy. A few hours later the wikileaks twitter reports Assange's internet connection has been severed by a government (would be either Ecuador disallowing connections outside or outside connections being dropped by the UK ISP). No news since.

Further, all of RT's UK bank accounts have been frozen...

Whatever's happening, it's not good. Any of you guys from the UK hear anything new?

also, t looks like a twitter post from earlier today may have prompted action:

    pre-commitment 3: UK FCO f33a6de5c627e3270ed3e02f62cd0c857467a780cf6123d2172d80d02a072f74
    pre-commitment 2: Ecuador eae5c9b064ed649ba468f0800abf8b56ae5cfe355b93b1ce90a1b92a48a9ab72
    pre-commitment 1: John Kerry 4bb96075acadc3d80b5ac872874c3037a386f4f595fe99e687439aabd0219809

those are hashes to indicate future releases are in fact valid, which is worrying because it signals he believes he will not be in a position to guarantee their validity himself.

the tag 'Ecuador' is interesting, considering that's the country that's been protecting him from extradition all this time - is he releasing data because they caved in to extradition demands, or are they allowing extradition because of data he was going to publish anyway?

the third option is I'm blowing this out of proportion, but given the Mosul offensive, Aleppo close to being reclaimed, collapse of the ceasefire in Ukraine and the US elections next month, not to mention the paid-for media, foreign funding and hints at Scalia's murder in the Podesta emails... there are a lot of things going on that could warrant this sort of activity.
