    Yanno Apt,
I was out running around and replied in between errands, but I actually can’t believe that you have the balls to judge me. You would do a self serving act to a child and ruin their life forever, and somehow rationalize in your head that it’s OK! I could NEVER do that to a soul, EVER.

Any opinion you have of me holds zero weight. Glass houses, yadda yadda yadda.

    Carry on.

I'm not clear how the things apt would or wouldn't do to a child has any relevance to your claim that you "control your life" or that you're "self made". Apt could be pol pot and it wouldn't make me any less skeptical of your position that you and yours are an island unto yourselves somehow independent of the larger society.

I don't need "100% proof", but I need at least some reason to beleive something other than an old known liar telling me it's so before I'll buy into it. Maybe I'm just not as gullible as you are speckels

This is the statement Apt made that I was replying to.

If my reply to that makes no sense to you, sorry. Makes perfect sense to me.

Let me ask Apt and Coot, what are you doing to change this world?

What does it matter what they're doing to change the world? You've been offered a critique of your position (i.e. it's unrealistic and has undesirable consequences) but you haven't responded to it, instead you've been trying to focus on the failings of the people offering that critique. Do you stand by your claims about being "self made" and "in control" of your life that you made previously? If so what's your response to the points that have been brought up such as education and employment being faculties of the society you've availed yourself or that the attitude you've put forward is a driver of some of the worst ecological trends in our society?

Are you for real? Perhaps high?

How dare you ask her to justify herself. Yes, society is in its inevitable decline, but that does not mean that the well off are required to justify their position. Next thing you'll be asking that everyone who you think is better off than you justify their every bowel movement. Lanny, you are nothing but a joke. A sad simulacra of Socialism.

Ecological and economic disaster? The boomers have granted you the most fertile soils, the most yielding of crops, and the easiest credit conditions (less than 0% in the Obama years) of any generation in history.

Only a fool, a joke, a moron, would turn these happy circumstances, plentiful opportunities, and bountiful inheritances into a bad thing in their own mind. You have been given a rare gift, will you turn it down and purposefully waste it? If so, why? What strange demon would so possess you?

Well, if you disagree with a statement or belief as a whole, you would be best to pick out what exactly in the statement or belief you would like to see proof of, then allow the opponent to provide some kind of evidence or circumstantial support for their conclusion, not run out and make a bitching thread about it. You can't beat me at this, son. I've been doing this a looonnng-assed time. I have an answer for everything.

I've tried giving you many, many chances to support your unended stream of BS specky, I know how it goes. Ducking and diving, that's all you're good for.

Is that why you LITERALLY banned me for over 900 years on Zoklet and ended up getting yourself permabanned and demodded by zok over what you did to me?

I was in the Rotunda (a fertility hospital in Ireland) as I had cancer, so had to have sperm banked.

How many normal fags had had to had similar? My youngest uncle did. His (older than him) wife gave birth to two girls, one of whom soon died from a "congenital" heart defect, and two boys. The total number of implanted embryos sounded to me like 14 or more, yet none of them seemed to me to be entirely normal. I love my cousins more than you would believe, yet sadly, it seems to me like test tube babies are a recipe for disaster.

Are you still fertile Lanny? You should try to hit up a normal fertile human being. Some South-East Asian or Mid-Eastern Chick.

With that response me thinks you didn’t read the thread. I’m not going to recap it for you, I wouldn’t insult your intellect that way

You've been offered a critique of your position (i.e. it's unrealistic and has undesirable consequences) but you haven't responded to it, instead you've been trying to focus on the failings of the people offering that critique.

I didn’t see any constructive criticism, all I saw was name calling. If you find that constructive criticism please point it out so I can address it.

I didn’t see any valid points made about education and employment, again, please point that out to me

    Lanster,
I was young like you and wanted to change this crappy world, but I am not of that personality type to lead the masses. I have settled for helping people when they are at their worst, and I’m damn good at it, this I know. I really feel like my station was chosen for me, I sorta fell into going to radiology school. I have the abilities to make people comfortable in tense situations, I can sense the needs of other’s before they vocalize them, and I truly enjoy making a person smile when all seems so terrible to them. I love people, and I’m where I can make a difference every day.

I am by no means rich. I am middle class. Nothing more, nothing special. I do not have anything extravagant, but by working hard, I’ve been able to afford my own minuscule part of this earth. I cannot take care of everyone, but I do have the means for myself, my family and loved ones to live a life without a lot of strife.

Truth be told, I've had several popularity polls performed on me by my detractors and all of them left the pollsters redfaced and alone, and some even ended up deleting their polls to hide the truth. I AM popular, and there's really nothing you can do about it.

Look at post 14, I wouldn't say it was a nice post but there's a valid point there: you claim to be "self made" yet you were educated and presumably currently are employed by your society. You leaned on society to attain a stable lifestyle. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but your opprotunities were given to you by the social structure you exist in and for the same reason many opprotunities were never on the table for you (e.g. you never had the option to become the president). These seems to be at odds with your claim of being "self made" and "in control" of your life.

    Lanster,
I’m just a human being, I’m not going to be some hermit that relies on no one. I prefer to be a productive member of said society.

    Although,
You can say I relied on society to teach me, I don’t see it that way. I PAID someone to teach me. Someone who got an education to be able to teach me. Sure others pay my paycheck, but I work damn hard for it. I don’t see things like you! I’m past trying to fight ‘the system’, I’m in reality sweety. I know my limitations, sometimes too well.

Re: Post 14. Nahhhhhh, being childish will not elicit an adult response from me, doesn’t deserve one!

I'm not "fighting the system" or telling you should be doing that. I'm simply pointing out (or pointing out other people pointing out) that your self perception as being "self made" seems illusory. Your education represented a loss for the institutions you received it from (shocking in light of cost of tuition in higher education, I know, but true). You had some choice in what you would do with your life but ultimately the society you exist in constrains what you're able to do.

Again, this isn't a call for revolution. I'm just saying that the attitude that the means of control that society exerts over you aren't real because you work in exchange for wages or control certian aspects of your life doesn't really pan out.

For what it's worth I don't buy into the jedi ethno-conspiracy either. But that doesn't mean you're your own master, when you think about the ways that people can live and the ways people get to live in our society I think it quickly becomes clear that neither you nor I or anyone we know really is "in control of their life" at the highest level.

Whether you the post was childish or not, that doesn't really change that it is, at least, a structurally valid criticism of the post it was in response to.

Very well put, but no where in my little head do I feel like others control me. I see how you see it, I just don’t feel that way, at all.
