This will improve as time goes on and with the amount of people on steam with coding knowledge I can see a time ten years from now where 98% of the steam library will be playable on Linux.

I really want to stick to Linux but it is still garbage to this day.
I first used it in 2003 or 2004 when Ubuntu was first released, I got it on one of those CD-ROMs that came with a Linux magazine.
It's still fucking shit as far as Dev support goes.
Like, the only major software available for Linux that is relevant to me is vlc and Kodi.
Rhythmbox fucking sucks, there isn't any decent video editing or music production software (lmms feels really cheap) and the UI is still shit.
But if enough people start putting effort into Linux all of that could turn around.
I think we're only a few years from the turning point where Linux will overtake windows.
If vavle and Oculus start taking Linux seriously then it will finally take off.

actually Microsoft Windows™ has been the h0ttest OS at least since 95 ( and earlier too ? ) right up to present day. I think you need to get off that torbald juice and have a nice healthy serving of Microsoft Windows™ sauce, lil cousin.

    retarded generalisations and/or fundamental misunderstandings

steam bundled with wine is really just a half-measure though, it still relies on windows binaries and encourages devs to keep using DX and co. At the moment AMD/ATI is doing great things in terms of open specifications and driver support for lunix, nvidia is still lagging behind but is improving slowly. Once driver support is up there it's a matter of encouraging devs to build working lunix ports and use less closed standards, so keep supporting devs like Aspyr for that.

Why wouldn't people just get a console if they really want to avoid windows?

in terms of gayming, even current gen consoles are pretty far below the capabilities of a decent computer.

besides, it seems like this push against Windows is mostly coming from people who've already poured a significant amount of money into building a computer and feel like they're getting shafted by the OS.

personally I've disliked MS' practices for a long time and support the concept of open platforms in general; it's nice to see it's starting to gain traction in this area

    Uninstall gnome scrub

    lolwut?

Rhythmbox fucking sucks, there isn't any decent video editing or music production software (lmms feels really cheap) and the UI is still shit.

Learn clojure/overtone scrub, or any of a dozen other music programming environments

But if enough people start putting effort into Linux all of that could turn around.

It's already fine, you're just using scrubware

I think we're only a few years from the turning point where Linux will overtake windows.

People have been saying this for a decade. Linux overtook windows long long ago, it will be more popular when people stop being scrubs, that is to say never.

If vavle and Oculus start taking Linux seriously then it will finally take off.

lol@scrubbook taking open anything seriously in 2018

I still use WinXP Corporate Edition. I've had my current install running on this machine without a single problem since 2002. Fast, reliable, compatible, zero issues. Don't intend on switching either.

There is no difference between "corporate" or "professional". It is the exact same files on your install source. The only difference is whether you have a single use license key or a volume license key.

As I've said, this entire "website" you think you're on is a malicious program.
