It is true that most pure american music forms have a large part of their origin in early slave and later free black music. Country is actually a mix of that and Scottish "folk" music from the southern half of the Appalachian mountain region which saw a large number of early Scottish settlers. Rock n Roll is the baby of a marriage between early country like Woody Guthrie or Hank Williams Sr. for example and early blues artist such as Lead Belly, Pinetop Perkins, Howlin Wolf, and many many other of my favorites. While Jazz has is roots entirely in the black american culture so fuck David Sanborn (JK). As for "black" music Motown is my very favorite. I listened to all of it I could on the radio as a child in the 60's and a teen in the 70's. But in the end no matter how you slice it it is all American.

Today I went to the store for kitten food and had to stand on 4 bags of dog food to reach it .. there was no help around and if it was help I still would have used the bags as a stepping stool
