When I was in Mexico once I saw people standing on roofs and lighting firworks in their hand then throwing them in the air as they got going. I realized then why people had umbrellas. It was not for the sun. It was to stop the burning bit of the festivities from raining down on their unprotected heads.
On the street, men on ATVs could be seen transporting fresh explosives from location to location. You could tell they were somehow all drunk. Every fucking one. I don't know if they just made the drunks deliver the firworks or if they paid these dudes in alcohol, but that whole event was like a big accident that somehow never happened.
