    Wired CCTV cameras often have IR led bulbs that turn on at night and can be picked up with either night vision equipment or a suitable camera, even a smartphone camera (try using a remote control while pointing your smartphone camera at the LED).

    That's a good point. Most CCTV probably has infrared LEDs nowadays, so detecting them in the dark shouldn't be hard.
