I ended up buying a brand new Ninja 300 for $4.5k last December and had no problems for the first thousand miles.
Then in February I decided i was going to get fucked up and ride it home. I would've been fine if it wasn't for fog so bad I couldn't see a foot in front of me, GPS sending me all over the place, anger from the events of the night, and being totally lost.
I couldn't see a foot in front of me and ended up hitting a median at about 40mph
I made it over the median but hit the curb on the other side, breaking my collar bone, shoulder blade and lacerating my spleen
Then recently I got a new set of bodywork, put it on, and have had another thousand miles trouble free
And I finally quit drinking and lost thirty pounds.
thats why i said that:

then when you break it your feelings will be 'meh' instead of suicidal thoughts at breaking a $12k toy -

Gonna have to see an optometrist about some glasses soon, or just kill myself.
you think your 30s are bad, wait till youre in your late 80s with synthetic joints, AI excretory functions regardless of where you are, and the need for viagra and penis implants if you still want to fuck anything. that pacemaker isnt any fun either going through metal detectors. -

It still runs great
thats really, really cheap
modern plasto-bikes with their lightweight frames usually tweak or rip when they hit a curb at that speed...and once a frame is out of alignment you may as well buy a new bike. the manufacturers use so much aluminum in all the load bearing locations (shocks...forks...etc)that its almost a guaranteed four-figure repair bill if you hit something.
not really relevant to your wreck but:
note the cop holding the dudes pants. the dude was dead. -

2018-06-08 at 1:14 PM UTCno...i wouldnt be surprised. im in the middle of completely rebuilding my bike and i spent literally countless hours with a wire wheel getting rust off the steel frame and other major steel parts before taking them for powdercoating. newer bikes are all aluminum but for the benefit of lighter weight they pay the price of lower strength and resilience.
thats why the only used bike i ever bought was owned by a 40-something dude. i would never buy a bike from a 20-something.
i was looking at an S1000RR on their 'lease' program...where i could ride it for a few years then when it started to get gremlins, return it and let it be someone elses problem. i dont want a bike like that with all the uber-grade electronics and finicky unnecessary complications. fucking ABS on a bike. fucks sakes...learn to ride a bike and you wont need it.
