   there were no tar pits back then becos there werent tars before dinosaurs went extinct.

   No. Rather, they were drawn to the tar pits at the dusk of their lives. The pits were already there. But if that's not good enough, we could switch to "Where Old Eskimos Go to Die", in reference to elderly Eskimos who would slip away quietly in the night, wearing nothing but their skin, out into -70F temperatures. That thread is like that.
