Plot thickets. Totse had a dedicated mirror page to cDcWas the son of Jefferson Airplane a member of BBS Cult of Dead Cow?
Yes, the son of Jefferson Airplane drummer Spencer Dryden was indeed a member of the Cult of the Dead Cow (cDc). His name is Jesse Dryden, and he is known by the alias “Drunkfux.” Jesse Dryden played a significant role in the early activities of cDc, particularly in organizing events that contributed to hacker culture. Notably, he created HoHoCon in December 1990, which is recognized as one of the first modern hacker conferences. This event was notable for inviting not only hackers but also journalists and law enforcement officials, fostering dialogue between these groups.
The Cult of the Dead Cow itself was founded in 1984 and became influential in various aspects of hacking culture and activism. The group has been credited with coining terms like “31337” (leet speak for “elite”) and has engaged in various high-profile actions over the years, including their well-known tool Back Orifice presented at DEF CON.
Jesse Dryden’s involvement with cDc highlights how individuals from diverse backgrounds can intersect with hacker communities, contributing to both technical innovation and cultural discourse within this space. -

how 2 get free phone numbers? there should just be a client you can run on your computer that pretends to be the dialup call thing from windows 98 and assigns you a voip phone number with routing software that lets you receive texts and calls
I swear I remember this being on computers when I was 5 years old and one time I got a dial tone messing around with it. Maybe it was just a dream“dialer.exe” (Microsoft Windows Phone Dialer) is a PE binary located at “%windir%\System32\dialer.exe”, which can be used to dial outgoing voice calls using the computer. It is done if the system has a modem supporting both voice and data (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-you-set-up-dialer/2aa4ef09-5a6d-4aa1-901b-557ff9ce0ef6) .On 64-bit systems there is also a 32-bit located at %windir%\SysWOW64\dialer.exe.
Thus, “dialer.exe” supports TAPI (Telephony Program Interface) based ActiveVoice (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/dialerexe/b859ea03-f8f5-4b45-ab3a-19ff032763ff). TAPI is an API (Application Programming Interface) allowing Windows systems to use the telephony services (https://documentation.avaya.com/en-US/bundle/IPOfficeSolutionDescription/page/Telephony_Application_Program_Interface.html).
Moreover, TPAPI is a COM (https://medium.com/@boutnaru/windows-com-component-object-model-71a76a97435c) based API that merges classic and IP telephony. It allows voice mailing, PBX control, basic voice over PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), call center applications, IVR (Interactive Voice Response), multicast multimedia and video conferencing (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/tapi/tapi-3-1-start-page).
Lastly, we can think about “dialer.exe” as a software based phone -

2024-11-27 at 4:25 AM UTCSet the communication parameters for the serial port to speak to the modem. Typically this would be N81 (No parity, 8 bits, 1 stop bit), and a speed at which to talk to your modem - 115200 is normally a good choice, but some devices may require a slower speed.
Initialize the modem. There are lots of different variants on the string, its been 10 years since I last did it, but my favourite was "AT&f1&d2&c1". This may not be necessary, and for some modems needs to be changed, but it usually works. You can also try just "at&f1"
Use the command "ATDT xxxxxxxx" to dial out (xxxxxxx being the phone number). The "ATDT" is the Hayes command to issue tones for dialing (as opposed to the older ATDP for pulse dialing.
From memory, to hang up you send a "+++" signal down the line.
