It's a short story I was working on. Want to share the outlines with you guys
Simply, North Korea hits the west coast with nukes by firing off a barrage of missiles it's managed to manufacture and having a shell game of making the USA guess which of them are loaded with the real nukes.
But suddenly in the wake of the west coast region of LA, San Francisco, San Diego, Portland Ore, Sacramento and Seattle getting hit.
Suddenly China and Russia sneak in with their secret stealth submarine navy div.
and they have hundreds of thousands of highly trained soldiers to dig into the western states. forget about the nuclear contamination.. most people lived for decades after Hiroshima. and they take a special iodine/vitamin suppliment to prevent them from getting radiation poisoning.
this, of course, leads to a ground battle but ultimately exchange of nukes after talks withholding American Hostages of survivors on the west coast by Russia and China (to prevent such an exchange). But prior to the exchange.. Russia and China place a great argument for being apart of their new union. most Americans realize that they will be employed for their entire lives and always have food and a place to live over the misery of homelessness that awaited their future. the ultimate decision to exchange nukes is by a Misguided and Jelous leader of the USofA who knew of the attack in advance and wanted to take advantage of it for the sake of money and power
