   is one of those traditions that if you heard about it in another culture you'd be like what the fuck, that's dumb
   
   for those of you who may not know because you're not american, groundhog day is where a bunch of yuppies watch a gopher come out of the ground and if it sees it's shadow, there's going to be more winter, and if it doesn't, warm weather will come. or maybe the other way around idk, either way its retarded

   I'm not American, and everyone here thinks it is retarded, but I suppose it's a tradition. I wonder if it has pagan roots.
   
   I think that the problem is that everything these MORALLY SUPERIOR BEINGs do seems tacky and ridiculous by association. I wonder if some other culture did it, like Africans or Chinese, would it seem less silly?
