After 10 long years of service the time has finally come to say goodbye to Cassini. Follow the spacecraft live as it dives headfirst into Saturn.

And of course, the thread wouldn't be complete without some cool pictures taken by Cassini!

    AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST!

    Earth as seen from Cassini.

Go with glory little guy, you have served us well.

fuck that little dot between the rings. it's become a fucking violent cage of fuckups.

maybe Cassini will be able to send us images passing through the cloud surface and see something of great interest inside. maybe it's actually fairly thin.

It takes raw images and then uses a calibrated color mapping system. it is also the only fucking object out there so your mind preceves it as cartoonish? if the exposure was longer, the planet would be really bleached out in light and you would be able to see background stars.

Because we're in a simulation, and since there are no people over there, that region is run on a much lower computing power.
