   pine seeds (nuts) are used in some recipes, they're fairly expensive
   
   you could probably break down and eat the cones themselves but they're more or less just wood, no real nutritional value

   because of all the labor required to collect them...plus there are only a few types of them that are actually physically large enough to be useful
