Supposedly the film crew was accounted for. That's hard for me to believe. But if they were I think some of the natives had to die. How the fucking do you get a tribe of cannibals to act in your movie? I think a lot if not all of the lost footage was real.
I know the impaled girl was supposed to be on a bicycle seat with a giant stick in her mouth. After watching the scene I'm not buying it.
You should also check out a film made by the same people called Africa Addio. It deals with the decolonisation of Africa and all the wacky shenanigans that ensued. It also has the only footage of an Arab massacre that took place.

yeah i watched it years ago. i remember reading that the film maker got arrested with snuff movies charges because of that impalement scene. if you want another gorish historical horror movie i suggest you "men behind the sun", it's about the tortures committed by the japs in the unit 731 during the second world war
