Like that lasted? there used to be bands like slipknut, korn, blink182, thin lizzy, devo, motely crue, green gay, slayer ect... who all still have lasted like 20 years plus
But like in the last 7 years theres been bands on the radio like mgmt, phoenix, the black keys, silver sun pickups, m.i.a., fun..
that had like one or maybe two catchy song and did their thing for like a year and a half and now nobody really likes them anymore and I think a major part of it has to do with they don't tour anymore, they would do stuff like coechella, sxsw, and other stuff.
theres 'newer' bands I like but theres not any lasting newer big bands anymore.
Probably because most of the bands you listed were pioneers of popular genres/subgenres. Slipknot, korn for nu metal, slayer for thrash metal, motley crue for hair, blink 182 and green day for pop punk/rock, etc.
These days all the rock and heavy music genres are pretty saturated and not many bands are pushing the boundaries and innovating in a way that's apparent to the mainstream, so nobody really stands out that much in the public eye.

Yeah I know you're right, but I just figured say take someone thats like 20 21 now, you'd think theyd still be into "new new-wave" but nobody reallys. My friend is six years younger than me and doesn't know about any music except what her dad would listen to. kinda weird. but hey i guess whatever.
I asked her if she liked thin lizzy and she had no idea what i was talking about.
the only thing thats more "modern" that is still going strong is stuff like miley cyrus, lady gag-her, and shit like that.

you don't make music to get rich anymore
yeah I can see that, like even like a band like skinny puppy who wasn't commercially successful as in they weren't on the letterman show, still to this day plays at festivals.

hey Bill Krozby, have you watched dark days? It seems like a movie you'd be into. DJ Shadow did the score is why I bring it up.
