I don't follow hardware industry news close enough to have a well informed opinion on the "reactionary" accusation but it certainly doesn't seem beyond the possible. The presence of a shitty top-end vanity product doesn't really bother me, core count on the majority of the line is a step in the right direction. Ehh

Also "enterprise" what? I mean i7 servers exist but no one really uses them. I guess maybe if you want to do a super high end workstation or something but even then I can't really think of somewhere this is useful. Graphics workstations should be investing in the GPU over the CPU and developer workstations aren't going to get much out of the higher core counts.
