and the second in the trilogy, The Wise Man's Fear are the greatest fantasy novels written in the last decade or so.
Sure, Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere is more epic, and his 50k short novella The Emperor's Soul is by far his best work but it doesn't come close to the level of detail put into NoTW and WMF. Even after a decade it still holds a strong fan base who continue to discover new things in the prose. The last time I saw this much theorycrafting was while LOST was on TV. Most books are a single read piece, maybe again in a few years. NotW? WMF? Every time you read it you'll pick up on more and more stuff. Every time you read it you understand why it took PR so long to write the damn thing. I've gifted this book about to a dozen people since I read it.
Most authors do about 5-7 revisions before publications. PR? Did over 30. And by it shows.
