Oh so you’re talking about the US. Why do you care you don’t live here. We want a MERIT BASED immigration system here. You don’t make the cut asshole, don’t be bringing your stank ass over here

So they don't rush to overthrow the government over convicted felons because it doesn't touch enough of "them" but any kind of gun legislation like a red flag law would touch enough law abiding citizens to cause a revolution?

    Interesting.

Because what happens in the US spills directly into Canada. Your corruption is what stinks. Your corruption is like a cancer that spreads globally. Everyone in the world needs to be very much aware of you and what you do, and they should stay fully involved, as for telling you exactly what you are.

That has been a conservative value since the founding of our nation you dolt. Liberals are the ones who scream for more and more control from the government in our daily lives and seek to govern even the speech of those who don't tow their line.

  9. Has anyone else noticed that nowadays people think anyone on the left is a socialist and everyone on the right is a nazi? Like from the others’ perspective I mean. I really wonder sometimes how did we get here. I feel like the internet has something to do with it. These days any idiot can just go online to some echo chamber, just type in “I’m right dot com” or whatever and have their own beliefs reflected back at them, louder and stronger each time, until eventually they’re unable to see the world any other way. Very interesting from a sociological standpoint, I really think this warrants further study

I think you gave us nothing but insight into your own personal dilemmas.
  11. How is it personal? I don’t constantly demonize others for their political beliefs. That’s what you guys are doing. I’m just an unbiased observer

The whole left/right axis as it exists in America right now emerged in the 60s, and is quite interesting, but understanding it involved being at least a little j-woke.

You're dead wrong about the "online" comment though, the narrative actually falls apart online, especially on communities like this one, and it is only by banning reasoned debate from the mainstream media that the left-right team sport is perpetuated.

Most people want the following: basic liberty, good wages, health care, end to wars, little immigration, and an end to wall street/big business corruption.

What people get is the following: no liberty, a race to the bottom in wages, bad health care, constant war, lots of immigration, and wall street dominance of everything.

What party, left or right is to blame? They just exist to point fingers at each other and make noise. Rooo Rah.

    That’s kind of an exaggeration.

    We have some liberty.

    Everything else is spot on.
  15. This is anecdotal, but I do work with a bunch of older people (early 50s- late 60s) who all pretty much agree that they have never seen the country this politically divided, ever. I mean obviously it was bad during Vietnam and stuff like that, but that was probably warranted. There was actual substance to it in the past, but nowadays everybody just hates each other for no reason other than which party they’re in. And I mean really hate. Each side thinks the other is “destroying America”.

    Someone's destroying America.

    And you can't criticise them.

Reaching out to a foreigner as opposed to who and for what exactly? It is not a matter of teams. It is a matter of values. His values are more inline with core American values than yours are. Sorry if that fact upset you.

    Oh and BTW...

50 - 60 year olds were babies during Vietnam. Try 70-80 year olds.
The reasoning is pretty simple. Once women entered the workforce, every family was supposed to be producing double, thus earning double.
Instead, wages got cut in half. Now having two working parents is a necessity to be even lower-middle class.
And we're pissed. Democrats want free stuff because they can no longer afford stuff on their own. Republicans want less competition in the labour force to increase wages.

In any case the common enemy is the 1%.
