It's a preference for a particular way of life, here is an example:
Say you live in an upscale suburb in a beautiful house, the area outside is full of trees, flowers and beautiful sights .... Now imagine you suddenly become homeless and are living in a parking garage out of a tent, that environment would depress you and you'd be wishing to return to your previous neighborhood.
What I'm going through isn't nostalgia because we could easily bring that way of life into the present. -

I use a crt, still play games on my ps2, listen to music on cd and vinyl, read magazines etc
I found around 2008 that the way things were was depressing me, so I just started sticking to what made me happy instead of going along with what the tech industry and web were pushing. -
