We didn't have "recess" at English school
We had 1st break (10am to 10.15am and 2nd break (3pm-3.15pm).
Recess would be a small opening in the wall that some of the more lowly students would smoke in. -

I don't know what an empty swing is.. like it was lacking power or something? I remember on the monkey bars going across them and some asshole klye schwartz was on the top of them and was talking shit so i swung my legs up kicked him in the face.
I had a bunch of fights when I was a kid, I actually won most of them.
though there was this one time, that wasn't a fight but the school master made whoever was going out the door last pull the door stop (not out jobs really) and zach couldn't get it up, so I helped him and my elbow went into his forhead where he had a bandage on and blood just started pouring out and I freaked out pretty bad but I told him to lay on the ground and I ran to misses bird my teacher and brought her back to zack, its like back to iraq -

I was a prefect (1.British: a senior student authorized to enforce discipline.)
...so at break time ordered the other kids around and kept them out of the buildings until break was over. I was also the first prefect to be fired in the schools 150yr history which I'm somewhat proud of. -
