Does anybody here still watch vhs tapes? I want to get a vcr again and make compilation tapes like I did in the early 00s. I want to make some tapes of amvs, industrial and noise videos, gaming trailers etc. In my room I have some tapes I made around 2002 - 2004, I was in my early teens back then .... One of the tapes is locked and doesn't have a label I have no idea what could possibly be on it. I remember trying to record my PS2 gameplay to a tape but for some reason the picture would come out real dark and muddy.
I have dozens of VHS tapes from my childhood, ranging from my dad filming the great Fargo blizzard of 1989 to me and my friends doing fake newscasts and music videos and just fucking around in general. I love digging them up and watching them on occasion when I go to my mom's house.
My biggest regret is not having made an effort to properly preserve my stuff. I wish I kept my gaming tapes, wish I recorded all my mini-dv tapes to vhs before I recorded over them, wish I kept my cassette recordings. I was too young and shortsighted, I would make things for fun without the idea of watching them in the future. If I can relive my life that's something I'll do differently next time.
I'm glad that didn't happen to me. All of my tapes are in pristine condition and labeled on the sides so I know exactly which ones contain what content.
At least I have my grandmother's camcorder tapes, that's far more precious anyways, footage of me as a newborn up to five and six. I have a couple mini-dv tapes left from my camcorder and one tape from 2004. The bulk of my stuff is from when I got a hard drive based camcorder in 2008 to present day. I'm gonna order some video editing software soon (lost my copy of vegas movie studio) and edit then put everything on dvd and bdr, I have 11 years of footage to go through orz
I have a on elgato capture device that I can use to record my gameplay footage now, but it won't be as special as having something from the early 00s so I don't see the point.
