"Drug dealers r mursereereszz" is an archaic reactionary argument that you should be embarrassed for if you typed it unironically

So without drug suppliers where would drug users get their illegal drugs? Grow and refine them themselves...lololol
So naive. -
2020-02-05 at 2:27 PM UTCRoss made the choice to become in effect, an online admin/ drug lord etc. What cannot be denied is his intellect and waste of potential. His views were interesting and he's far from your average thinking drug supplier. I think given the chance he could be an asset to the government in one way or another.

Doesn't matter how many people die from ODing on a legally obtained over the counter drug.
IF people die from an illegally supplied drug then the supplier must face the consequences of his actions in those results.
It's all very simple to understand if you are not brain damaged from drug use. -
2020-02-05 at 2:36 PM UTCWhy should the supplier be blamed for people misusing the drug?

He isn't, he's blamed for supplying an illegal product that was part of the whole equation...his part is illegal and carries heavy sentences....he knows that before he does it but chooses to do it anyway...
No use whining about it after you lose your bet...you made the bet.
Example.
Burglar
Fence
Mr Average
Burglar steals the DVD player
Fence sells the DVD player to Mr Average
Mr Average knowingly buys the stolen DVD player
All are breaking the law and eligible for punishment. -

Ross never touched drugs. The only thing he did that warrants his punishment is by setting up silk road with specific listings for illegal things. If he just had a chemicals section I think his defense would hold more weight but it was set up to make it easy to search for illegal things.
He was not involved in the drug scene at all. That was all being done behind the scenes without his knowledge.
It can even be argued that he shouldn't be charged as a kingpin because the only 'crimes' they have evidence of him committing is when FBI agents faked a murder 'ordered by him' which is bullshit because it was just a bunch of agents fucking with him, nobody got hurt or was ever in any danger and there was NEVER a darknet hitman -

You don't have to touch anything to be part of the supply chain...If I sell something on Ebay that I drop ship from Amazon...I don't touch it either..but I'm part of the supply chain
If the supply chain is for an illegal product then as part of that supply chain I would be as guilty as any other party in that supply chain.
This really is all basic shit you should understand and know. -
2020-02-05 at 2:54 PM UTCHe still solicited the services of a hitman so, yeah, pre meditated murder right there. Even had they not done him on the drug charges, they would have fucked him on that. It's sad cause the guy actually somewhat has a conscience going off the FBI chat logs. Despite the hit not even taking place he talks in a manner akin to regret. It's as if he knows he's too deep to get out.
When his gf found out about it,(Silk road), he had more than enough chance to close the site and disappear. He could be living comfortably with some other inspired dumb ass taking the heat, i.e. Silk road 2.0. I don't even think it was the money, he just become so absorbed it became his eventual downfall.
One of the sad aspects of the book is when it says the love of his life severed contact with him in jail. Just imagine knowing she's getting dicked and impregnated whilst you rot away in a jail for the rest of your life. That has to fucking hurt. -

He wasn't part of the supply chain though because all he did was write code and maintain servers. The drug markets did not change after he was gone. -

"Officer it's not fair you are ticketing me when everyone else on the road is still speeding".
...is not an excuse. -
2020-02-05 at 3:26 PM UTCbtw, yes if your website is the marketplace for illegal transactions...then you are part of the supply chain. It's called aiding and abetting too.
The resulting conviction and dismissal of appeal is a bit of a give away... -
