Same way you made the thread the other day about not having electricity.

Pull the fucking thermostat off the wall and the furnace will kick off a few minutes later, dumb ass. It's not fucking wireless, they don't make such a thing because it's highish voltage relays controlled by mercury.

Or, if a gas furnace, there should be a regular light switch type switch on the side of the furnace that will shut off everything. If an electric furnace, turn off all of the breakers on the furnace. You could also turn off the breakers at the main electrical panel but beware that there is probably more than one breaker required to be turned off.

Two errors I see in your above statement. First of all, almost all thermostats are low voltage (24 vac). Secondly, almost all thermostats these days don't use mercury switches. The only one I can think of is the old round, gold standard Honeywell T87F. They have a digital version of it nowadays that doesn't use mercury. Old mercury style thermostats have a much larger "swing" than the more accurate digital ones.

"Recycling mercury thermostats can be expensive because they are considered hazardous waste; the expense can lead to their illegal disposal, or lack of disposal. HVAC contractors are required by law to recycle all mercury thermostats they remove. In eight states, mercury thermostats are banned from being installed." May 31, 2016
