Former Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill blasted President Trump after he tweeted a congratulatory message to the “great state of Kansas” after the Super Bowl.
On Sunday night, Trump commended the Kansas City Chiefs on their Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers. In his tweet, the president congratulated the state of Kansas on the win, but the Chiefs play in Missouri.
Trump wrote, “Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on a great game, and a fantastic comeback, under immense pressure. You represented the Great State of Kansas, and in fact, the entire USA, so very well. Our country is PROUD OF YOU.”
Within moments, the president deleted the erroneous tweet and replaced it with a corrected version, writing, “Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on a great game and a fantastic comeback under immense pressure. We are proud of you and the Great State of Missouri. You are true Champions!”
Kansas City, Kansas, is a real town located across the state line from Kansas City, Missouri. The Missouri city is much larger and is the home of the Chiefs.
McCaskill, 66, lost her reelection bid in 2018 to Republican Sen. Josh Hawley. After leaving office, she was hired as a commentator on MSNBC.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat San Francisco by 11 points, 31 to 20, in their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years.

Maybe it will be enough of a snub to turn Missouri to a blue state from red.
