Want a laptop for 300-500

   What should i get? I dont wanna go under 300 but 500 is my upper limit if its a good deal. Ideally more around 400. But mainly I want good bang for my buck ans something that'll last. Ideally I'd like to add more RAM and memory later on. Windows only. I snapped my chrome book in half because i hate chrome books so much.
   
   Looking for 8gb of RAM at least, and preferably a decentish sized SSD. I will be playing games on it but not much honestly. And nothing super intensive. I will need to do some video editing and photoshop stuff.

   Not true, ChromeOS is actually a really well designed OS in terms of internals and security. Newer Chromebooks have great integration with Linux containers so you can run most Linux apps and games as well as Android apps.
   
   That said, they're mostly only good if your main concern is price or security. Otherwise just look for some decent windows laptop on sale.

   You can, but it's not ideal. On a lot of Chromebooks you have to flash the firmware or at least turn on dev mode to install another OS. It can also be a bit of a pain to get the right drivers/everything set up as well as it would work in ChromeOS like screen rotation and whatnot.
   
   Depending on the model of Chromebook it's totally doable and might not be that bad, but at that point why not just buy a regular laptop?
