just take any fraction 1/8, 1/2, 3/4 etc and then break it down to decimal (.125, .500, .750) and multiply by 25.4 and that will give you the metric equivalent.
or take the metric numbers like 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, etc and divide that by 25.4 to get the english standard equivalent.

When American scientists use the standard system, their computers convert it from metric. This prevents any screwups or compatibility issues. Still they happen. You know how many people have died because of screwups between yards and meters?
