Do you think child abuse is a good thing?

Obviously the term is subjective but what your personal opinion? Can you raise a good kid without ever striking them physically? If you think physical punishment is necessary to teach them stuff, where would you draw the line?

I just head this little girl running down my hallway telling her little doggy to come back and then i heard the mom come by and ask her "why are you being so naughty? Do you need your ASS WHOOPED?" and the little girl casually said 'no.'

Just made me wonder what the hell kinda shit she does behind closed doors.

Anyone who uses pain as a motivating factor on a child is lazy as fuck. Quicker and easier to intimidate than teach.

What do you do if your kid just refuses to do what you ask them to, even after you take away their privileges and make them sit alone doing nothing? Is it ok to just literally lock them in a cage or a closet until they COME TO?

Yes you are a wise owl before being a wise owl was cool. Teaching your parents rather than the other way around. :)

Let's say you have 3 kids. One is 13, one is 6 and one is 2.

I wouldn't call it abused. I have been slapped by both my parents many times starting from a very young age. I used to sperg out in public and my dad would back hand me in the middle of the grocery store and I would be quiet afterwards.

I was a good kid though so I never got beat that much. My mom used to fight me a lot when she was an alcoholic and I cut her with a knife but that was just because she was drunk and crazy, and she felt bad for it and stopped drinking. I didn't care about her getting physical with me, I was more concerned about her coming into my bedroom while im sleeping or jacking off and knocking everything over, ripping posters and breaking things in a drunk rage.

I don't think beating kids once they start puberty is very effective. My parents stopped I think because they realized I would probably try to fight back, and I did. Young children don't really have the capacity to defend themselves so they can't do much besides sit there and take it.

But beating a 16 year old probably wouldn't have the same effect and they can just run away, which I also did a lot.

I believe there's a window at a young age when one quick swat on the ass can be useful for the shock factor. To show them certain things are absolutely fucking off limits. But an actual ass whipping to inflict pain is just to satisfy the anger a parent might have.

Once they're big enough that a swat on the ass doesn't shock them, you just have to teach them. Teach them early that life is what you make of it. You want something you have to earn it. Even if that just means showing respect.

I thunk I'm inclined to think this way too, but I've never had kids so I dont directly know what parenting CAN be like. There are so many extenuating circumstances to it that it seems very complicated.

Like there are surely kids that were horribly physically mentally abused that didnt deserve it, and some still turned out "good" and others went down a shitty path in life. I think its sometime hard to connect the two.

I do agree that there are parents who clearly, CLEARLY get off on taking their anger out on their kids. That one is pretty sad. Even when then their kids are being very unruly or disobedient it gives them the perfect opportunity to just beat the shit out of them, among all the other horrible things I've heard done.

That's what I'm asking tech. You're one of the few people here with adult kids so, what is the line? If I just refuse to do what you say starting from a very early age and continue to be like that, how do you fix me, or is it your fault that I'm like that in the first place? What if I'm autistic? Lol

Lol man that's a good point though

You realize how many kids back in the day got their ass thoroughly worn out just because they were mildly autistic and struggled with certain things?

I was physically abused as a kid and it made me worse off and everyone I know. The short answer is no, unless theyre a shitty little rich kid who needs it. Kidz in da struggle dont need to be hit to learn right from wrong, only rich, morally and sexually ambiguous 2 parent household kids with a combined income over 50k

Well sure. Why just 'back in the day?' I'm sure it still happens plenty. I guess maybe now it's easier to diagnose and understand something like that so maybe that's what you mean.

I wonder how many parents beat the shit out of their kids with the best of intentions. It cant be many. At some point you have to realize that endlessly abusing your kid isn't working to help them and you're just doing it to satiate your own selfish desires. Like abusing animals and pets.
