But I guess they do make a pretty convincing case that maybe the reason the average temperature has changed is because the average metabolism has changed. Today we live almost entirely in climate-controlled environments and are less likely to work physically intensive jobs as we were back then. And perhaps this has led to a decrease in the average person’s basal metabolic rate.

However, this study only included individuals in the US, which contrary to what you may think is not a proxy for the entire human race. If you take the average of EVERYBODY in the world, I would think the number would probably not have changed that drastically from historical values. Maybe a little bit not as much as this study shows. Most people in the rest of the world don’t live as decadently as we do here in the US

Oops sorry did not realize it.

Study done in Great Britain. Guess that blows your theory out the window

It does cite the Stanford study, but this discusses British folks body temp.

I actually had written a little aside about the UK study too but erased it because I didn't think it was relevant to my argument. But ok yes there was another study in the UK (that was actually mentioned in, I believe, all 3 articles you already posted, which shows you did not read them).

Again, 35,000 people in a highly advanced first-world country is not a fair representation of the entire human race.

You realize that the UK is an extremely fat, decadent country too; it's not just us

Hun I didn’t read them because I’ve been aware of this. I’ve had discussions about it with the doctors I work with before I ever saw the articles. I take people’s body temp every day and also notice the lower temps.

I just pulled articles out knowing this was the case.

    Point still stands!

Your anecdotal knowledge adds absolutely nothing to your argument, but ok boomer. The peer-reviewed studies are a start, but I'd like to see them do a few more around the world and come to a more accurate consensus. Nice talking with you hun

There's three types of people in America who use metric:
    - Scientists
    - Immigrants
    - Drug dealers
