2017-02-02 at 2:36 AM UTCThis has come up a few times, Scrump's Dwarf Fortress thread reminded me - it'd be cool to have a forum RP game, but would require a a couple of changes to stop it from spiraling into a shitposting frenzy.
Ideally we'd want a new subforum for the game with the DM as a moderator. It could be done in a single thread, but I'd expect it to be more difficult to assign a moderator to a thread rather than a subforum. -

2017-02-02 at 5:38 AM UTCIf DM is designated and not a faggot I would say that a need for moderation on the forum end is unessecary. We would just need the DM to number posts that are legit. I.e. if the first response is a shitpost but the second and third are legit Mod could just quote those posts as numbered in his responses. It would require a responsive DM and ignoring people who arent actually participating but I think its doable.

Down to post editing and banning from the thread. We would find out who is a fucking asshole real quick and who is a pretty cool guy.

I don't see why my idea can't work and if anyone fucks around they can be shunned and have their threads spammed in retaliation. -

This idea has been tossed around in the past. I refuse to implement it generally, posters own and should have control over their posts but not their threads, to make threads the domain of opening posters is to revoke the ownership by every other poster in it. I'm not sure how severe the effect would be but there's a degree to which it enables people to enhancement unpopular opinions. I mean by posting anywhere in 2017 selection bias is inevitable, but at very least I'd like to post on places where that's natural, people choosing to participate or not, rather than something enforced by software (restricting ability to participate for differences in opinion).
Endowing OP with moderation powers in a few subforums is an interesting idea though, at minimum it would enable this kind of forum game which would be cool and I'd be curious to see if anything else fell out of it.
It's take a decent amount of new code, right now there's really no notion of a moderator, you either have every privilege on the board or you're a normal poster, most moderation is done through a auto-generated admin interface based on the DB schema but is sounds kinda fun. Reject's thing for user configurable posts per page is first on the queue but maybe I'll poke at it this weekend. -

Why not just broaden Games people play to include board games and RPG and if anyone fucks around I'll fight them. -
