    I know you said you don’t want to weld, but my neighbors son went to a school out of state to learn underwater welding. Big bucks when you specialize and you’d have a leg up with your experience. Just a thought.

    I looked into that about 18yrs ago with Stevenson's transport when I got laid off from Compaq, they offered me a job and seemed desperate for anyone (The interview was a group one of about 15 people and then accepted everyone).

    They'd train you for free but you had to sign a contract with them for 2yrs. They promised the world but the reality was you get the shittest jobs the "real" drivers didn't want, I was told I'd be away from home 6 weeks at a time and then only 2 days back home before going out again (I was married at the time so that was a no) and for 2 yrs you'd only make in the $35k range.

    OK if you are single I suppose and you'd save a lot on rent/mortgage as you wouldn't need a home.
