2020-01-13 at 2:48 AM UTCIt should be illegal to keep cats and dogs in small glass cages
They should have a large enclosed area for them to move around in.
This is slavery and the most important civil rights issue of the past century. -

while I agree with everything except the hyperbole, it's also probably one of the smaller issues with the pet breeding/sales/supply industry -

2020-01-13 at 4 AM UTCOur state premier actually shut down the entire greyhound racing industry because of the abhorrent conditions that were imposed on the dogs, then realised how much money it made and backpedaled on it a week later. somehow not the worst thing he's done though

2020-01-13 at 4:15 AM UTCI just checked on US regulations, I wasn’t sure. I have been to a greyhound race in West Virginia long ago.
I’m glad it’s not widely legal.Once the Florida ban takes effect, only five states will still allow greyhounds to race: Alabama, Arkansas, Iowa, Texas and West Virginia. Four other states don't have tracks, but dog racing is still legal in Connecticut, Kansas, Oregon and Wisconsin.Nov 7, 2018

2020-01-13 at 12:53 PM UTCI would have anyone who caged an animal executed.
-
2020-01-13 at 1 PM UTCYou people have clearly never lived on a farm before where not caging your animals can ruin you financially and cause you to starve to death.
Damn city slickers. -

I used to raise Quail with exwife #1...we had 250 of them at 20 to a cage with the cage being about 2ft x 1.5ft each (racked in a stand), there was a tray for feed, one for water at the back and then at the front a shelf where the eggs rolled down for collection. Often Raccoons would come in the night and steal the eggs and occasionally we'd wake in the morning to find the racks pulled over...not sure if a racoon could do that or maybe it was the Sasquatch.
Either way those fuckers seemed happy enough in the cages like sardines, they never complained.
The goats we had all got killed by the neighbors dog so I killed it. -

pretty much the same thing happened to my parents, they are parrot ranchers and had to put down a lot of coyotes coming and raping and killing their ginuefowl. The neighbors dog came and started doing the same thing to their fowl so my dad got his shot gun and executed their dog after they repeatedly told them to not let their dog on their property.
Unfortunately during that bastrop wild fire everything they had burnt to the ground but their doing better now. -
