2020-01-07 at 3:17 AM UTCI definitely admired the construction of houses in Germany vs. the US. The whole house was cement. They build taller whereas here they tend to build out. 3-5 story homes were way more common there.

A tornado will still rip through brick. Wood is more pliable and can be made tornado proof nowadays. I've been through tornado aftermath areas here and you can tell which houses were old and not built to today's standards.
On the west coast the wood houses are better at withstanding earthquakes. That's why Japan has used woods for centuries. -
