How do you become a better person?
-
2017-01-30 at 1:37 PM UTCWhere do morals come from? I try to be moral but it doesn't take much to make me do as much horrible shit as I possibly can to a person. Basically I have morals, but as soon as someone pisses me off I don't have morals anymore. Does anyone here have any morals that they stick to, and how can it be done?

Basically morality is a personal and subjective sense of what is right and what is wrong. Ethics is morality from a societal or group perspective. It's ok to sometimes act in a way that you feel is wrong, it's actually important to an individuals survival to be able to behave "wrongly" in certain situations.
As you already said, you already have a sense of morality. But if I understand your post correctly your problem is that whenever someone makes you upset you act or behave in a way you would otherwise feel is wrong. To put it simply you lose control. Therefore your problem is not one of morality but of self control and discipline.
If you agree that this is your problem and you want to find a solution to this problem, you need to work on your self control. A lot of human behavior is surprisingly unconscious, heavily influenced by things you don't actually have a lot of control over. You could try to work on controlling your emotions instead of letting them control you, thinking before you act, maintaining a clear and alert mind, and realizing the consequences of your behavior and accepting the responsibility that comes with your actions. -

I'm the most upstanding person on this entire website. People at work go up to my boss and say "hey scrawny really helped out today he's a real star".
Even the police don't want to see me in jail, they would only arrest me if there was no other choice. I'm sure if it was up to them personally they would let me go because they know I'm a good man, man. -
