To be honest, it is quite painful. I have a high tolerance for pain, but they never asked me about pain at any point. If my camera was better, then you'd see the carnage. I popped it again last night and today by accident. My nephew bumped me right on it and peeled the scab back. There was more pus, so I grabbed a couple of q-tips and ignored the pain.
