At least they are not a finite resource

Not to mention how damaging their disposal is to the environment.

Fossil fuels arent damaging, tho. They arent destroying the Earth.

    everything's a finite resource

high-efficiency panels need to be doped with exotic materials in order to maximise the collection of specific frequencies of light, and I don't know how much (if any) of the panels can be recycled

we need a dyson sphere around the sun like in all those sci-fi stories

So you prefer something even more damaging and more costly?

How are solar panels more damaging?

Sunlight is inlimited, for another 6 billion years.

I hear they are just landfilled. Recycling isn't economically viable - at least in the west.

The part people forget about dyson spheres is that what we think of as energy is just an entropy differential. So dyson spheres need to be cooled - which means they would need to glow like suns themselves.

    Good luck with that shit.
  9. Why does it even matter? I thought trump denied climate change. Suddenly he cares about carbon emissions? Lol.

    Because trump fucks niggers...thats why.

For a while in my area homeowners were bombarded by calls from telemarketers trying to get them to install solar panels on their roofs.
I resisted the idea cause panels look like shit on the roof and the installation is done with lag bolts that are driven thru your asphalt shingles into roof rafters introducing more leak points.

Molecular transporters are not far away, rendering all conventional travel pointless.

But once the neodymium is refined it's there forever, and can be recast, etc, especially if it's used in a big generator motor.

its really the harnessing of the wind thats doing all the damages.

winds are supposed to circulate freely around the globe to even out the temperature between the poles and the equator and between the day side and the night side of the earth.

by having lots of wind farm on a global scale humanity might be slowing down the circulating wind enough to the point that thermal redistribution around the world become disrupted.
  14. Originally posted by aldra the most promising 'green' energy sources are probably geothermal and tidal, which interestingly enough get a LOT less airtime than wind turbines and solar

mining the heat from the deepst of the earth's belly and bring them up to the surface WILL contribute to global warming. and it could be even more damaging in the long run as earth's core loses its heat and solidifies and caused earth to lose its magnetism that protects us from cosmic rays.

tidal waves is also important the regulation of earth's temperature. disrupting their flow could potwntially disrupt the earth's temperature regulation.
