it was an import tax that affected everyone, but had the most impact on the south who relied more on imports than the North, due to their lack of a manufacturing industry
Now we are seeing the same effect with Trump's import taxes. Only nobody has a decent manufacturing economy anymore.

Trump isn't worried in the least about some empty, unsupported and bogus impeachment accusation. In fact, he's quite happy about it, because it guarantees his victory in the next election and the Republicans will win back the House and keep the Senate in 2020.
