I'm hoping this will result in the stupid $500+ landing fees at London airports being reduced...fucking taxes and fees cost more than the actual flight costs. Last time I went the breakdown for a $1200 ticket was something like $550 for the flight $650 for taxes and fees.

    yup

"Landing fees vary by airport and usually depend on the size and weight of the aircraft. Expect fees to be in the $100 to $500 range"

It's in the $500 range for London (From the USA), then there are all the other bullshit fees which result in it being more than the actual fucking flight cost.

Do you have a private jet or something?

Heathrow has the/some of the highest fees in the world apparently. Next time you get a ticket look at/request the ticket cost breakdown..You'll see the cost of the actual flight is like 40% of the entire cost of the ticket.

On April 1, 2018, the per-person tax for long-haul flights crept up from £75 ($105) to £78 ($110) for economy class, and from £150 ($211) to £156 ($220) for premium classes. Short-haul flights aren’t exempt, either; passengers on quick hops have a £13 ($18) APD added to the ticket total, a rate that did not change on April 1. Even award tickets, paid for with carefully hoarded airline frequent flier miles, require payment of the APD. And if fate smiles on you with an upgrade from economy to business class, be ready to hand over your credit card to pay the difference in APD. Luckily, there are a few exceptions to the APD, including children under age 16 in economy class and passengers changing planes in the UK with layovers under 24 hours.

In the nearly 25 years since its inception, the APD has ironically done the most good for airlines and airports outside the UK, as travelers look for more affordable, alternative itineraries far away from the fee.

Holy fuck that is a fuck ton of money just to fly.

It seems like people are voting for the Tories because they don't trust labour to do anything about immigration. Brexit is just a proxy for people's legitimate distaste for replacement migration.
    https://www.migrationwatchuk.org/briefing-paper/361/recent-polls-on-immigration

Interestingly every demographic in the UK want less immigration, even immigrant communities.

But Boris isn't going to do shit, and Brexit won't change anything. The Tories represent the rentier class first and foremost - the landlords - and they want their cheap labour and high rents.

That's why this is all so ridiculous.

I was listening to a WLP audio the other day and he was going on about how similar Tony Blair and Bill Clinton were, and how they both got big money from jedi donors.

The situation with Trump and BoJo is in many ways very similar. It's weird how this just keeps happening.

Of course WLP makes the point that almost no one knows these politicians personally at all, all they see is what the media shows them, and therefore the media chose our leaders and democracy is a ridiculous exercise.

I have heard from just about everyone I have ever spoken to about the huge disconnect between what the media says and what the reality is, and I have been lucky enough to have met a lot of very interesting people.

they represent an alternative to the status quo, but eventually people will realise that under the surface nothing much has really changed

I would say that they are the status quo - in real life - but they do represent a reaction against the false consciousness the media is trying to instill in us.
