Fixed my own brake lines

2019-12-09 at 10:21 PM UTCIt's one of those things I never really fucked with because of all the horror stories you hear about losing all braking power when the flare gets fucked up, but I'd say all in all I did a pretty good job. No leaks at all that I can detect, and I had time today to actually bleed them and it's better than it's ever been as far as braking power. I think when I finally get around to doing the rear driver's side brake line and bleed them at the caliper they'll be top notch.
As a bonus, I was forced to buy a flaring tool instead of borrowing one from my boss, so I'll never have to worry about it again, just figuring out the correct size fittings if the old ones are fucked, which if you cut the line at the fitting and use a 6 point it's really hard to actually fuck them up. -

Any double flare kit will do with the ez bend line, the stuff is very easy to work with. -

I thought about getting a kit like that, and in all reality it would save me tons of money in the long run seeing as 3/16 is the most common size. Ironically though it wouldn't have worked here because these are 6mm (1/4 inchish) lines.
