Just take a look at all the steps required and the fine details he gets in. Plus you have to also have a keen eye and sense and be able to predict things like where the light would hit. But it really takes a lot of patience and a lot of restarting things or being able to throw a worka way to redo it that youve spent hours on. Its really not for everyone:

I have spent days photoshopping and compositing just one picture, and then it not be used. Or my boss comes over and says "oh we don't sell that product any more".
I once changed a products colour in Photoshop to pass it off as a different one. Graphics work can be lots of fun that way.
Just about any job is a lot of work, besides fictional ones. Standards are very high out there, and an 8 hour day is no joke when you're trying to concentrate the whole time.
This is why I say it isnt for everyone. This is the type of work and career you have to be a type B personality to really get into. Someone who likes to fiddle with shit like a piece of paper all day and turning it in all the directions possible or you think are possible and finding new ones.
Not every job is a lot of work. being a guard or CO in most jails is ust sitting on your ass reading a newspaper and talking shit to inmates as you escort them back and forth or counting people every hour and treating people like shit or turning a blind eye to violence like they do.
This is why freelancing is really good because you only get paid per project and dont have to concentrate for eight hours on something. You can take three hours and get paid more than someone working on a similar project for 8 hours and take as many breaks as you like.
