2019-12-06 at 1:48 PM UTCThe Western powers have always been terrified of Russia. Britain and France even teamed up with the Muslim Turks and invaded Crimea at one stage, just to clip Russia's wings. Armagh Cathedreal has a big monument to local lads who died in the siege of Sevastopol. Of course just what the fuck Armagh lads were doing laying siege to Sevastopol isn't explained anywhere. I grew up, not knowing any better, reading shite like the Charge of the Light Brigade by Tennyson. Creepy shit

Originally posted by aldra 1. The only reason why Russia retook the Crimea is because it contains (it really just is) a critical naval base that was at risk. It was at risk because the US had fostered a coup that deposed the legitimate Russian-friendly Ukrainian government - this is common knowledge if you don't take US media at face value. There's an audio recording of Victoria Nuland and the then-ambassador to Ukraine talking about who should be in the 'new government', you should be able to find it even on Youtube. Search "victoria nuland fuck the EU".
2. Crimea has existed as a Russian territory far longer than Ukraine has existed as a state, and the only reason it's part of the Ukraine is because Kruschev gave them stewardship in the days of the Soviet Union. Since its collapse in the 90s, the people of the Crimea have regularly petitioned to rejoin Russia with over 90% turning up to vote yes, but it's always been rejected by the Ukrainian government.
3. Russian Spetznaz entering the Crimea were simply to enable the referendum to be run (which was observed by several foreign bodies, the only one with complaints about the process was the US… who didn't even send an observer) and to enforce the (almost-guaranteed) outcome. Not a single shot was fired.
3. 'Russia invading' has always been a stupid canard to cover for the fact that the US used another colour revolution to overthrow the government and destroy the state, and to cover the coup-imposed government's utter embarrassment at getting dominated by the rebels in the East (see - Debaltseve cauldrons for example). There were never Russian military entering into the conflict and likely will not be in the future, though it's an open secret that Russia supplies arms to the rebels.
At this point it's frustrating that you people cannot understand what factors of the situation are important and just fall back on cold-war era programming; "Russia bad!" any time they're mentioned even in passing. Russia's not even relevant to this conversation, we were talking about the credibility of the US intelligence services and Falco deflected saying "we should believe them because Russia is worse". I literally spent 10 pages asking him for evidence for "Russia interfering in our elections" in the last thread and he finally came out with "because the CIA said so", which is just mind-numbing. You don't have to have an opinion on Russia at all to know it's not wise to take any intelligence agency at face value.
You goobers seem to think this is a zero-sum game where you have to back US or Russian intelligence agencies - NEITHER IS YOUR FRIEND, and you're going to get burned if you start trusting them just because they're attacking someone you don't like.
More imperialist propaganda -

Maybe if you stop attacking them and the things they value, Republicans will be more receptive to your message. -

More than 500 law professors say Trump committed ‘impeachable conduct’
More than 500 legal scholars have signed an open letter asserting that Trump committed “impeachable conduct” and that lawmakers would be acting well within their rights if they ultimately voted to remove him from office.
The signers are law professors and other academics from universities across the country, including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Michigan and many others. The open letter was published online Friday by the nonprofit advocacy group Protect Democracy.
“There is overwhelming evidence that President Trump betrayed his oath of office by seeking to use presidential power to pressure a foreign government to help him distort an American election, for his personal and political benefit, at the direct expense of national security interests as determined by Congress,” the group of professors wrote. “His conduct is precisely the type of threat to our democracy that the Founders feared when they included the remedy of impeachment in the Constitution.”

President Trump faces a 5 p.m. deadline Friday to announce whether he intends to have a lawyer participate in the remaining impeachment proceedings before the House Judiciary Committee, as Democrats accelerate their attempt to remove him from office.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) directed committee chairmen Thursday to begin the process of drafting articles of impeachment against Trump, with many Democrats anticipating that a full House vote could come before Christmas.
At the heart of the Democrats’ case is the allegation that Trump tried to leverage a White House meeting and military aid, sought by Ukraine in the face of Russian military aggression, to pressure President Volodymyr Zelensky to launch an investigation of former vice president Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, as well as a probe of an unfounded theory that Kyiv conspired with Democrats to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.
●Pelosi announces intent to impeach Trump as constitutional clash intensifies.
●Pelosi resisted Trump’s impeachment. Now she’s the public face.
●Phone logs in impeachment report renew concern about security of Trump communications.
●Senators face a collision between presidential ambitions and an impeachment trial. -

It's just as easy to get 501 law professors to say Trump DIDN'T commit ‘impeachable conduct’, you dishonest idiot. -

i saw that.
but when i read the fine print and seen why and who the shooter was, it was not much to be shocked over. it's the military, which is quite amazing this sort of thing doesn't happen more often.
it has nothing to do with Trump because the Military is not a public domain.
nice try... -

Because it's the military, it has nothing to do with the commander in chief? Lol
