The smell, to me, always gives away someone on a meth binge before the pupils or behaviour does. Smells kinda like cat piss/ ammonia. Something about shit leaching out of the skin because the liver cannot metabolize it fast enough.

Its not about the liver. Amphetamines are not hard on the liver. Its due to vasoconstriction causing the pores to close up. This is why meth users often say even a shower doesn't help and it makes them greasy and stinky. Any drug that causes vasoconstriction will do this but meth has legs and people tend to binge on it. The sweat isn't the same.
Plus ketosis makes you smell. -

I've never met a keto faggot (you know they're on a keto diet because they never shut up about it, kind of like crossfitters) who smelled as bad as a meth binge. As far as the exact mechanisms of meth sweat are concerned; I do not care enough to look into it; it smells bad. -

ketosis is just when you don't consume enough calories for your body, so it begins burning fat. It smells. So when people do meth and don't eat (bcz meth) they go into ketosis and start losing weight. It's not about any certain diet, just a lack of calories. I couldn't do it. I just work out and eat healthier when I wanna lose a few lbs. -

to be honest most meth heads I've known and even myself when I would do it maintained their weight. I think I would smell because I would sweat it out rapidly also with the alcohol, but i always would shower after an all nighter/dayer. -

Ketosis, is when you don't consume enough CARBS for your body to burn. You may or may not be in calorie deficit, but you are definitely in carb deficit. All of your tissues, with exception of the brain, can burn either carbs, or fats for energy. The brain can only burn carbs. When you go into ketosis, your body essentially burns your fat reserves for energy. Majority of people on keto diet report having brain fog (the brain cant burn fat for energy, only glucose).
If you eat zero carbs, your body has no way of replenishing your blood sugar or glycogen levels (unless it breaks down your muscle tissue for gluconeogenesis?). This leaves the body nothing but fat reserves to get energy; it forces the body to resort to fatty acid oxidation (which takes up more oxygen than burning good ol carbs, hence why athletes will on occasion take Mildronium (banned as doping agent in olympics), to prevent fatty acid oxidation in exchange for having higher blood oxygen levels). -
2019-12-03 at 8:54 PM UTCYeah, idk I lost muscle and I know this from telltale rhabdo symptoms and you can just see the loss, and yet gained the weight back in fat somehow, probably due to not quite getting into ketosis before eating more than usual after the binge ended.
Meth doesn't last long enough to get you into ketosis, you're brain is still cooking off of glucose for about 3 days of not eating carbs, which is just not long enough for a meth user to get to because they almost certainly will be eating more than 20 carbs a day on average even if they aren't eating much, or after like 2 days they will eat a whole bunch during a crash -

If you do meth, you do not eat.
Once you come down, you are most likely very tired and hungry. When you don't eat, your body, due to demand (carbs are ideal fuel for muscle and brain), burns through your glycogen. Glycogen stores carbs, which are the ideal, fast burning fuel for your body. Glycogen is a way for the body to store carbs for future use. Glycogen is found in the muscles. Once glycogen capacity is reached, excess blood sugar is stored as fat (unless it is immediately used).
So if you don't eat, your body will lose glycogen first, making your muscles appear smaller. Carbs need a lot of water to break down, so once you have no carbs, the body also loses water. Therefore after a binge of not eating, you lose water retention and glycogen, which makes you appear/ weigh a lot smaller/less. This does not necessarily mean that you lost fat; there are other things in your body that can affect overall body weight.
p.s., yes, theoretically, your glycogen levels can last a few days of no food whatsoever. BUT, if you're busy running around, having gay sex, or just jerking off in general, that glycogen will run out fast because you are constantly using energy on an empty stomach. -
2019-12-03 at 9:12 PM UTCSounds about right, but IMO at least half of users are experienced enough to know that they need to force themselves to eat a turkey sandwich and a pint of milk here and there knowing that if they don't they're going to feel awful. As soon as you eat you feel way better, and even if you're just sipping on mountain dew, that's plenty of carbs to prevent ketosis kicking in
