What was your first experience with the internet/computers?

  1. #1
I think that we are all old enough to remember internet/computers becoming popular and widespread, and eventually into everyone's pocket. Recently I told my little cousin that I didn't have a phone until I was 15 and it blew her mind. I'm sure the geezers out there can tell us all about it. SpectraL will love this thread, no doubt.

Anyway, my first time was when I was about 9, when we got a computer. I did not know what to do on the computer other than play games. Some mars racing game I can't remember, minesweeper, fucked around in paint and MS video editor. Spiderman was my favorite. Eventually I got bored of playing games and somehow found my way into a pokemon chat room. Also played a lot of albino blacksheep games.

At one point my school got a computer lab and my best friend back then started looking at porn on the computer. This was still in elementary school. Probably like 11 years old. He got in trouble for it and so did everyone who gathered around his computer. I didn't because I was sitting next to him and didn't have to get up to look at it.

My dad worked for RadioShack so I've been around computers basically my whole life. The first computer I remember actually using is my dads TRS-80 when I was ~5-6. I mostly just played different games that he bought for me on it like the Manhole.

A few years later I founded my elementary schools computer club and hacked on Apple ][s & macs after school, writing little programs in hypercard and stuff like that.

My Dad ran a BBS and I used to call some other local ones. I got on the Internet when I was older, sometime in the mid 90s via compuserve, then AOL and it blew my mind.

I got a windows 98 and drew pictures in Microsoft paint and had a CD for Windows 3D movie maker

And then I started typing lewd search terms into AOL and I remember some really janky early 2000s porn. Only pictures, there was no video except QuickTime

    Also this

Playing doom 2 and commander keen. And as far as the internet I went online looking at how to cheat on test in school and then came across totse bad ideas and the rest was history.

Also I used to print out pictures of girls butts.. I actually found some of the ones I used to bust a nut to awhile back and it was like a blast from the past.

Also I played a lot of StarCraft and quake two before going to school. Infact I'd even fake sick just to do that.

I don't really look at porn unless I'm the male star of it and I still enjoy them to this day

Had a mac computer on which my only entertainment was groliers encyclopedia (which had sweet 3D video clips and audio) and these 2 games:

Later on we got that sweet 56kbps internet and I remember spending a whole 90 min watching a tenacious d music video on windows media player home page bc it would play for 2 or 3 records and then have to buffer for 1 min,

My dad scammed an Acer computer as part of this college fund scam thing he was doing. He played Descent on it and would let us play sometimes. I also played Keen 4 and an Egyptian themed educational game called "memphis math" we had a buncha AOL cds and I remember the first article of the encycopedia that was around then had A.A. Milne (creator of Winnie the Gang Boss of the 100 acre woods) as the first entry.

Then when I got older my friend brought a stolen briefcase we needed to find out how to open and we fatefully asked jeeves what to do and he suggested we try a website called totesese

My first "Internet" was shortwave and crystal radios back in the mid '60's. As a very young child, I used to build them from kits you could buy, then I'd sit up late in the wee hours, well past my bedtime, exploring and communicating with the voices in the nether. Pretty well very early forms of the BBS world, in that it didn't matter who you were, where you were from, what color you were, or whether you were wearing clothes or not.
