   Im referring to how they categorize people in some countries in Africa. You're either black, white, (or arab, or asian, basically one race) or if you're some lighter shade of brown that results from a mixture in between then you are colored. In Namibia for example they would stick to each other and live in separate neighborhoods.

    No. Americans think that the u.s. is the whole world, so when they hear "colored", they think "black", because yes, they used to refer to blacks as coloreds. But in other parts of the world people who see some of these lighter colored blacks will not ever call them black, but refer to them as colored. As in they have a different tint or color.

    What's ironic is that color is only the perception of the viewer and doesn't actually exist in the real world. Color is not a property of electromagnetic radiation, but a feature of visual perception by an observer. The color center is a region in the brain primarily responsible for visual perception and cortical processing of color signals received by the eye, which ultimately results in color vision. Blacks aren't really black, and whites aren't really white. Everyone is really the same.
