How did rockstar become so shit they went from San Andreas to the dogshit vomit that is IV and V?

Same reason why diablo 3, Skyrim, fallout, saints row, halo, call of duty, starwars battlefront all became normie AAA garbage to sell micro transactions

    No, IV didn't have microtransactions.
GTA went to shit with IV, I mean, it was a good game but a major step backwards from San Andreas.
San Andreas was massive in the scale of its aspirations, it had so much gameplay and the world was so detailed, IV and V are so stripped down by comparison.

Last night while drunk I drove a golf cart around the rural towns of GTA V, that is more entertaining than the entire piece of shit storyline.
If only they had added things to do in sandbox mode that wasn't the typical affair (item collection) then I might not be so hard on V.
There is literally nothing about that game that sets it apart from the rest and the fact that it's touted as "the greatest game ever made" is an absolutely fucking joke, it's not even a 7/10.

San andreas was so much more involved. I think San Andreas utilized more of Rockstar North than the next ones. 4 and 5 would be phenomenal if they continued in the same vein

I mean SA was great, probably my favorite GTA game. I do think it gets just a little overhyped. Like people fucking rave about the lightest of RPG mechanics and the gang wars thing, and if you took either of those mechanics out and put them in another game they'd be dogshit. I loved fighting for turf, but it was stupidly repetitive.

I'm not saying it's bad, but some of the things people praised were really not that amazing besides being kind of novel in the genre.

Part of what makes SA so magical is the early 90s theme.
The Gen X music and cultural references, the gang culture, having three very distinct cities and the countryside with the rural villages and towns.
One of my favorite things back in the day was exploring the small towns while listening to the country radio station.
Also the sheer lush amount of gameplay and detail all packed into what was on a PS2 in the year 2004, compare that to what you get 20 years later on much more advanced hardware and you gotta wonder what the fuck has gone wrong with Rockstar games.
San Andreas is one of the top five greatest games ever made and it deserves that title, it was a true masterpiece and so ahead of its time.

The story was arguably the best too and touched on a bunch of elements of 90s Americana plus the LA riots courtesy of samuel l Jackson was so fun and dystopian after running through the same streets earlier I'd neglect beating the game just so I could leave it like that. The casino heist was a first for the genre too and comparable with any mission from a rainbow 6 or hitman type game to that point.

Vice City is the overrated game
San Andreas rightfully deserves and owns up to the praise and hype.

Fun fact: San Andreas was originally going to be released as "Nigger Simulator 2004".

I agree if not just because San Andreas Multiplayer mod for the PC is fucking amazing, I spent years playing that thing. There a zombie outbreak server back when that national obsession was at its peak, a war server, and a stunting server where everything was made into awesome stunt courses and you could spawn any type of vehicle at any time and press a button that made it so you could basically fly any vehicle all across the map, MAN that's a good mod. Vice City is very Dope too, but looking back it is kind of a lot more restricted than san andreas and the cheats aren't as cool, but the vibe in that game is rockin'. GTA 3 is the one I'm meaning to go back and finish sometime

It's backwards compatible on the xbox.

It holds up. I love running around shirtless with a fro and an AK back tattoo.

    It is nigger simulator 2004.
GTA V was originally intended to be sim nigger 2013 but they realized no one cares about that anymore so they made that only a tiny aspect of the game.

Dude, fuck off, Vice City was awesome. San Andreas was absolutely the best one, but Vice City is a close second in terms of setting and atmosphere.

    Vice City is overrated
The story is meh, the city is tiny and boring, gameplay wise it doesn't really add anything new from GTA 3 aside for buying property and you can drive mopeds.
The atmosphere is all it had going for it.
