It isn't a GABA agonist but increases GABA synthesis by altering some brain enzymes, and increases response from non synaptic GABA cells (whatever that means), so calling it a GABAergic is probably technically wrong. It also alters an enzyme responsible for glutamate synthesis.
Sodium channel blocker on one particular subunit which makes it belong to the class "gabapentinoid"
Also decreases all monoamine release probably due to those mechanisms but I think I read once it increases serotonin levels over time.
I actually wonder what mechanism causes gabapentin to get someone high the first time they try it. It usually never works the second day even. Especially why I'm getting visuals. Maybe the glutamate level alteration makes it like an NMDA antagonist.

2017-01-17 at 10:18 PM UTCI took gabapentin for the first time yesterday. I felt like i was high on marijuana and drunk ..atleast in the way i was thinking its weird stuff. I liked it though didn't halucinate but i was tripping out having deep thoughts about my life...it was kind of scary

2017-01-17 at 10:35 PM UTCIsn't it a good drug? How much did you take?
Having a prescription 600mg a day is pretty dank, but I convinced my dad to let me take 900mg a day for 20 days and then none for 10 days for tolerance break
I need 2000-3000mg to get decently high, also I can feel it the next day. It has an intense rush for about a minute, then resembles a benzo crossed with a dissociative for 4-24 hours.
You can't take it all at once because it's bioavailability decreases when you take more. You have to take 300mg every 15-90 minutes, with a fatty food and a carbonated drink because both also increase bioavailability. Naproxen apparently increases bioavailability by 15% but I never tried doing that. Getting a decent high of gabapentin is kind of a ritual because there are so many different factors that go into it, but I enjoy doing it. Feels ceremonial.
If you get high on 3g, you'll need 6g to feel the same way the next day. Tolerance goes up immediately but also resets within 3-5 days. -

I don't call it GABAergic, i called it a GABAmimetic the other day. But yeah, without going over the entire pubmed article, does it say anything about which receptor/subunit it acts as sodium channel blocker? Also, gabapentin is an interesting drug but purely from a pharmacokinetic standpoint imo, i don't particularly enjoy it's effects. -

I love alcohol and I love gabapentin but to me phenibut is one of the shittiest drugs I've ever done, the only redeeming factor of ordering any was they gave me a free sample of Crouton. other than that It only worked well for me the first time I ever took it and it wasn't even that great. -
