    A Texas man convicted of molesting a four-year-old girl has been sentenced to probation, sparking outrage in his community and prompting two more young victims to come forward with allegations against him.

    Hector Gonzalez avoided prison under a deal with prosecutors in El Paso County after he pleaded guilty to one felony sexual assault charge and one misdemeanor unlawful sexual contact charge in exchange for having four other misdemeanor charges dropped.

    He had been accused of abusing the four-year-old girl from September 2017 to July 2018, weeks before he was arrested.

    The lenient sentence of four years probation shocked the victim's family.

    'I was in awe with the plea deal,' the girl's grandmother, Valerie Montoya, told KOAA.

    'Why should this man get to ride off in to the sunset like he did nothing? People go to jail for far less than what this man did.'

    The sentence also led KOAA investigators to uncover a second case wherein two other young women claimed Gonzalez assaulted them beginning when they were around the same age as the first victim.

    Well what he was accused of would probably have came with a much more serious punishment if convicted, that's the 'advantage' of plea deals I think. He gets to stay out of jail and the prosecutor gets an easy win even if they potentially had a weak case.

    yeah that's why there should be mandatory minimums and at least he would go to jail and reduce his life expectancy

    People getting worse sentences for looking at child porn, and some of those are kids themselves. But when you actually rape or molest a child instead of looking at a digital version of a child being abused, you get a less harsh sentence.

    I don't get how 1s and 0s is worse than actually abusing children.
