cultural identity

2017-01-15 at 7:32 PM UTCI don't know if it's just because of the things I've done in life (a lot of drugs, a lot of travel) or the fact that I never really fit in or aspired to fit in with the things most of my peers are doing, but sometimes I feel like a cultural bastard. Like what is American culture for people in their 20's? Shitty rap/pop, bandwagoning on social justice issues, acting like you're too cool for everyone else and getting fuckin drunk.

It's definitely a mix and especially because of the town I live in. I actually spoke to a girl on tinder last weekend thats from laredo tx (a border town my mom grew up in, and I've visited many times) she asked me where i was born and I told her austin, and I said well I guess you're from laredo. And she was like how did you know that? (her profile said she went to community college in laredo texas and then moved to austin, but I can't possibly see why anyone would move there unless you're a wetback or to go back to live with your hispanic family) I didnt word it like that but I just figured people go to community college where they grow up then move else where to a different school, especially considering she did move miles away..
But she basically told me im ignorant (im not I've been there tons of times unfortunately) but she appreciates my view..
But they only have one culture there, everyone speaks spanish, the only white guy there is the weatherman, so guys like my lil bro and i and my dad stick out like a sore thumb there, not thats theres anything wrong with that, but If I was to live there I wouldnt have anything to do.. go to a "disco teca" and dance to tejano and country music?
No bands go there for concerts, they don't even have a barnes and nobles despite it being a major city in texas, and its dusty and hot as fuck and theres currently isis and cartel shootouts there (there has been for years)
and she couldnt accept the truth that that place is stagnant in many ways. so we quit talking.

his parents hate each other and him but they are so mind controlled they all live in same shit house like rats because thats all they can do. what kind of twenty year old gets high off anti-depressants. the dude probably doesnt even know how to get a boner much less make an iq test
I don't know if thats just a thing in his area, or if its just he's the white trash of the east coast (people talk a lot of shit about the south but I grew up with a lot more)

2017-01-15 at 10:01 PM UTCI'm technically well travelled although always with family so that kind of detracts from the whole spiritual "finding yourself maaaan" aspect of it. If I have time off I'd much rather sit around and do nothing. Most people my age want to go into cities and got to bars and act like faggots. I'd rather go into the woods and see nature.
So I guess I don't have a cultural identity. Though I'm halfway commited to a bunch of different identities too, it's not like I'm a mountain man I still have fancy mixed drinks and eat at restaurants.
And at the risk of being elitist most people have never used psychedelics so they have 2 decades of (((public school))) and (((tv))) as their basis for how the world works. -

you're highly mistaken if a lot of people don't want to just go to the woods, it just depends where you group up, a lot of people

everyone has a cultural identity. sure a lot of people want to go to cities and go to bars, but a lot of people (im not sure where youre from) in murica want to be out in nature. Do what you want to do not what others want to do.
And using psychedelics is hardly elitist drugs are everywhere, its just some people see them as dangerous.
