Labor laws kick in at 18 years old and that's the same age you can vote.
16 years old minimum age for license
18 for voting, guns and military service
21 for tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, sex and porn
Also things like driving, voting and having a gun are protected rights while minimum age laws for sex and mind altering substances are regulated by the state

An adult is 18. You're using the same logic that grown adults use to fuck 13 and 14 year olds, or younger. The whole point of an age of consent is because people under it are considered to not be mentally developed enough to make such decisions.
