Winter illumination/SAD lamps
-
2019-10-20 at 9:41 PM UTCIt's coming into winter, and at this latitude it's suddenly now getting dark around 6:30 pm instead of 10:30pm.
I've set my wifi LifX bulb to come on before I wake, and have gone on a bit of buying spree with regards to bright LED bulbs. It's kind of frustrating how rare/expensive they are.
I have even bought a bayonet socket to 5x edison screw converter, first cheap edison screw bulbs I find here (we get them a lot, due to Lidl/Aldi not realising we use bayonet sockets over here) I'm going to buy 5 of them and make a super light bulb.
I also have an IR bulb and a UV flourescent lamp.
I'm going to grab a lamp for my desk at work too.
Anyone use the dedicated SAD lamps? They seem like overkill. -

A study at Boston State Hospital showed that people exposed to UV light on their chest and back saw in increase of 120% to testosterone.
That’s pretty good.
But when the genitals were exposed to the same like testosterone production increased 200%! [source]
As mentioned this may be because Vitamin D is not really a vitamin but a hormone precursor. So it makes sense.
As the testicles are where 95% of testosterone is produced, if you can localize your skin’s formation of D then you can see a direct increase.
So after hearing about this in my studies, like a good student, I had to give it a try.
There’s other people that live around me, so its not the easiest thing to pull off.
But I had to try. Sitting in my yard one day I pull my pants down slightly and let the sun shine…
What I saw next surprised the hell out of me?
My balls appeared to move of their own accord.
I watched in awe for a couple minutes, as they basically squirmed around.
The irish are much paler than everyone else, it would probably only take a few seconds of exposure. -
2019-10-24 at 7:23 PM UTCThat study is from 1939. Basically meaningless without reproduceable resultsd
